Bhubaneswar – Puri – Chilika Lake (Satapada) – Konark – Bhubaneswar
A short Odisha circuit that links the ancient temples of Bhubaneswar and Puri with a boat cruise on Chilika Lake and the UNESCO-listed Konark Sun Temple.
Arrive at Bhubaneswar Airport / Railway Station, meet our representative and begin your Odisha holiday. Drive towards Puri, the famous temple city and one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Odisha.
En route: Visit Dhauli Shanti Stupa, an important Buddhist site associated with the transformation of Emperor Ashoka after the Kalinga War. Continue towards Pipili, a colourful artisan village famous for its traditional appliqué handicrafts, where you can explore local shops and see decorated umbrellas, wall hangings, lampshades, bags and other handicraft products.
Puri: Proceed to Puri and check in to your hotel. After some rest, visit the famous Jagannath Temple for darshan, subject to temple timings and entry regulations. Non-Hindu visitors are not permitted inside the main temple premises.
Evening: Enjoy a relaxing walk along Puri Beach and explore the local beach market.
After an early breakfast, proceed towards Satapada, located on the southeastern side of Chilika Lake. Chilika is a spectacular brackish-water lagoon and an important destination for nature and bird lovers.
Chilika Lake boat cruise: On arrival at Satapada, board a local boat for a scenic cruise through Chilika Lake. Enjoy the lagoon landscape and keep an eye out for the famous Irrawaddy Dolphins. Satapada is one of the principal places in Chilika for dolphin watching; however, sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
Sea Mouth: Continue towards the Sea Mouth, where Chilika Lake connects with the Bay of Bengal. Enjoy views of the lagoon, sea and surrounding islands. Depending on the boat route and weather conditions, the cruise may also cover other permitted areas of the lake.
Afternoon: After the boat excursion, return to Satapada for lunch at a local restaurant / resort and relax for some time. Later drive back to Puri.
Evening: Free to relax at Puri Beach, explore the local market or enjoy the atmosphere of the seaside town.
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing excursion to Konark.
Konark Sun Temple: Visit the magnificent Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Odisha’s temple architecture. Explore the beautifully carved stone structures, sculptures and architectural details of this historic monument.
Chandrabhaga Beach: Continue to Chandrabhaga Beach, located close to Konark. Enjoy the peaceful coastal scenery and take some time to relax by the beach.
Ramachandi Temple / Beach: Depending on available time, visit Ramachandi Temple and the surrounding coastal area. Later return to Puri.
Evening: Free for shopping and leisure. You may explore local handicraft shops and markets for souvenirs such as Pattachitra paintings, appliqué work, stone carvings and other traditional Odisha handicrafts.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed towards Bhubaneswar. Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy a short sightseeing tour of Bhubaneswar. Suggested sightseeing:
